Is there a limit to how many chests you can find in a area? I've found at certain points, finding any more chests is just impossible.. and that the number is different per area.. Is this just a coincidence that it happens repeatedly, or is it actually limited?

Yes, there is a max number limit for getting chests for every stage and the number is different per area.

The most i got was 8(9 for clearing the stage). Even after adding coins in twice i got no other chest. Might be my luck.
