First gem recruit didn't count down for 10th card draw

I bought the first time buyer single gem recruit card (10 draws from 6*). Then I bought a single gem recruit from the current gem sale and it now says 9 draws from 6*. Shouldn't that say 8 draws?

Did you get a 6-star card for your first draw? The guarantee counter resets back to 10 whenever you obtain a 6-star naturally.
